The 3.1 series is the first based on the new netcode, with new terrain renderer and many other changes.
Configuration uses a new directory, if you want to use old mods/maps/savegames, you need to copy them. Note that savegames from 2.3 and 3.0 are incompatible, only those from newer master snapshots might still work. For mods it depends on what they do, don't expect old mods to work either.
2.3 is now officially unsupported.
New year, new master snapshot.
Again lots of changes since the last snapshot. This one will hopefully lead to a 3.1 release soon (yes, we'll skip 3.0, since things are quite different than in the 3.0 betas). For one thing, window and input is by default handled by SDL again, hopefully solving Qt-related performance problems some people were seeing. The lobby login support is gone again for now, since unfortunately nobody had time to fix some outstanding issues.
Also, thanks to Emdek who played through it and tested fixes, the campaign should be completable now. And there is support for stored templates, where you can save a unit design, and it'll appear in your build menu automatically once all required research is done.
New master snapshot. Took a bit longer than the last one, but has a lot more changes as well.
For one, the old fallback for teamcolours with OpenGL 1.4+ was included again. The main target is still OpenGL 2.0, but at least it now runs on older hardware, and you can actually tell friends and foes apart. Also some work on walls and blueprints, see the changelog for details.
New master snapshot featuring new power code, power is now deducted when building/researching something.
New master snapshot. More script and savegame porting. Savegames are probably all broken.
Hello Warzone fans!
At this time, we bring you, what should be the last release in this series.
Have no fear, we will continue to enhance & fix Warzone with every new release we do.
As for what is coming up next, we will let you know soon enough.
New master snapshot. Its a bugfix release.
Today, we bring you another new master snapshot.
Numerous changes have been done, and we have increased performance due to font rendering changes and of course, more bugs have been fixed.
The Lobby now supports Logins!
Since 2.3.8's projectile handling sucks, I've made some test builds with various patches. Please test them and report back on the behaviour of them, and which you like best.
New master snapshot. There is fullscreen resolution switching and cursor trapping on Windows and Linux. On Macs, it still doesn't work, and you need to set the resolution via command line or config file. Games will end correctly. Dydo AI was removed, since it is unmaintained at the moment, and doesn't work correctly anymore.
Note: All old savegames are incompatible.
PS: We could really use the help of a Mac developer.
After some time, a new master snapshot. Should contain about all the changes from 2.3.8, and lots of other things.
new 2.3 release yay
multiplayer balance changes. two new maps: vision and roughness. video stuff: scanlines, up to 1024x1024. reverted the change that made terrain block projectiles. Limited map-mod support, data included in a map file will only affect games on that map. maps have to be uploaded by the host/downloaded by the players, keep them small.
The Warzone 2100 Project Team would like to mention that we have now finished the transition to the Qt framework.
This means that there will be no future SDL builds available, and only Qt builds for 3.X.
2.X will still use SDL, however, there won't be any feature enhancements in this series.
We just don't have the time / manpower to maintain different code bases.
Once again, we do not have any mac developers, and without mac developers, we can't make the platform specific changes that are needed for the mac. If you know of any mac developer that can help us, feel free to send them this way!
